⁴ᴷ MTA NYCT Brooklyn Buses: Flatbush 2022 XD40 Action - On Board 2022 XD40 7943 on the B46

Flatbush's 2009-2010 Orion VII Next Generations have gotten to the age where retirement is necessary, and as they quickly become much less reliable, stable and even more hard to maintain in bulk, they will have to be replaced, for the majority, by a brand new fleet. This brings the 2022-2023 New Flyer XD40's in, which will be replacing a large majority of 2009-2010 Next Generations that are currently present in Flatbush, and will thus modernize the borough of Brooklyn even further, with more advanced technologies and better seat layouts with more space to stand, leading to a better ride. These new XD40's are Flatbush's 3rd order of XD40's thus far, with the 2015 units still being a staple of the depots local routes, and with the exclusion of SBS service and the mass-rescheming of the 2018 XD40's, there is also these units alongside older buses, which provide commuters with USB ports and more buses with automated announcements and screens. These XD40's look largely similar to both 2018 XDE40's and 2021-2022 XDE40's, due to the inclusivity of the new full-length roofline, as well as the new front logo placement. However, unlike 2018 XDE40's, these buses have rear plug doors, and unlike 2021-2022 XDE40's, there are no decals present anywhere on the bus, as the MTA does not promote diesel-fueled buses to the public. While these buses may be diesel powered, emissions from New Flyer have drastically lowered, even from buses fueled by diesel.
