This is the season of aquascaping competitions. And sometimes, the difference between an average scape and a standout one isn’t a complete overhaul—it’s a few precise changes. In this video, we explore how a simple planting technique can transform an existing layout. No rebuild. No drastic changes. Just a more thoughtful approach to structure, layering, and plant placement. Initially only Micranthemum tweediei, widely known as Monte Carlo was used on this 2ft (60 cm) ADA 60P aquarium. Later, following plants were introduced. 1) Ludwigia arcuata - for it's red shade and to bring in colour variation 2) Limnophila sp. 'Vitenam' - for colour transition 3) Hemianthus micranthemoides - additional layer in the back 4) Hygrophila sp. 'Araguia' - to complement red colour of Ludwigia arcuata 5) Dwarf hair grass Inspired by the philosophy of Takashi Amano— where nature is not redesigned, but realigned. ⏱️ Chapters 00:00 – 00:15 | Introduction 00:16 – 00:55 | Tips to Transform Your Scape 00:58 – 03:13 | Planting Scheme 03:15 – 05:25 | Planting Technique 05:26 – 10:30 | Plant Transformation 10:32 – 12:28 | Creating Layers 12:29 – 12:38 | Using a Light Screen 12:40 – 13:28 | Need Help If your aquarium feels almost right, this might be the shift it needs.
