When the Record Turns Slow | Romantic 1950s Spoken-Word Love Song – Mad Mick
Some love songs promise perfection. When the Record Turns Slow is about something more honest, choosing the same person through the silence, the damage, the laughter, the ageing, and every difficult day that follows. Mad Mick delivers intimate spoken-word poetry through a warm 1950s slow-dance sound, surrounded by gentle doo-wop harmonies, brushed drums, upright bass, piano, tremolo guitar, vintage saxophone and soft vinyl crackle. Underneath the romance, the record still carries Mad Mick’s signature controlled chaos: chopped vocal phrases, turntable scratches, sudden silence, a late bass entrance, and a false ending that refuses to let the love story finish. Because real love is not always fireworks. Sometimes it is two drinks left on a table, a record still spinning, and someone who keeps the light on when the night gets heavy. Written, designed, produced and pieced together by Mad Mick. The voice is mine. I write the lyrics, develop the musical concept, direct the artwork, create the descriptions and assemble the final release. 🎧 Best experienced with headphones. 🔔 Subscribe for more genre experiments, spoken poetry, mutant doo-wop and music that probably should not work, but does.
