Las Gardenias de Tepito - Apuntes de Rabona

Tepito, popularly known as the "rough neighborhood," is often labeled as a dangerous place. However, this stigma about the place is simply superficially based, since its residents and merchants are hardworking and honest. Amidst the sea of banners and merchandise, one place stands out: the "Maracaná" soccer field. This space unites the neighborhood's people through their love of soccer. One such example occurs every October 4th, the feast day of Saint Francis of Assisi, when a team called "Las Gardenias de Tepito," made up of transsexuals and transvestites, takes to the field.
