We tested the Suzuki Space for several months in endurance testing. We've summarized the key results in our video. A 1.8-liter hybrid engine powers the Suzuki Swace, delivering up to 122 hp of system power to the front wheels via a CVT automatic transmission. This power is the result of the combination of an electric motor (72 hp) and a gasoline combustion engine (98 hp). During our long-term test, we recorded an average fuel consumption of 5.1 liters per 100 kilometers (44.4 mpg). A really good figure for a car of this size and utility. Incidentally, Suzuki specifies a combined NEDC fuel consumption figure of 3.4 liters (44.6 mpg). The Swace needs 11.1 seconds to sprint from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph). That should be sufficient for most people. The speed is electronically limited to 180 km/h (112 mph). A nod to Volvo. Or simply sensible to keep fuel consumption in check. Our test car shines in "White Pearl Crystal Shine" metallic. The Japanese station wagon features, among other things, LED headlights and 16-inch alloy wheels in the "Comfort" trim level, which is the only one available in this country. However, the Swace isn't a Suzuki development; it's largely identical to the Toyota Corolla Touring (station wagon) Hybrid, but differs in its features and bodywork. Inside, the two are identical except for a few details. However, the pricing strategy differs. The Suzuki Swace starts at €31,350. The Corolla Hybrid Touring Sports is available in "Snow White" (all others cost extra) with the same engine, starting at €30,880. Both come with a CVT automatic transmission.
