Critical Literacy
By John Bergeland, PhD (Literacy Education), Dr. John Bergeland (2020, December 1) Critical literacy is the belief that interpreting literature is more than simply decoding the words of a text, for language is a social construct that is used to inform, entertain, persuade, and manipulate (Freire, 1987; Luke, 2012). This video supports teachers as they use text to help students explore content, question personal assumptions, and explore values and beliefs.
