DONGFENG Box 2025 | La Panda elettrica cinese da 23.000 euro

Dongfeng, the Chinese automotive giant, has ambitious expansion plans for Europe, and Italy could be one of the key countries in this strategy. According to the latest rumors, the car manufacturer is evaluating the possibility of building a factory in our country, intended for the production of models to be marketed in the Old Continent. This would mark an important step for Dongfeng, which already at the end of 2023 had launched the Dongfeng Nammi 01 in China, a small electric car designed to be accessible and competitive on the global market. The Nammi 01, which in Europe could arrive with the name "Dongfeng Box", has already made its debut in Switzerland, where it is available for pre-order starting from 21,990 Swiss francs (about 23,000 euros). The model should also be launched soon in Norway, a market particularly receptive to electric cars. The technical specifications of the Nammi 01 remain unchanged compared to the Chinese version. The car is equipped with a 70 kW (95 hp) engine and a 42.3 kWh LFP cell battery, which guarantees a range of 310 km according to the WLTP cycle. In China, Dongfeng also offers a version with a smaller 31.5 kWh battery, but it seems that this variant will not be introduced in Europe. The Dongfeng Box has compact dimensions, ideal for the urban context: 4,030 mm long, 1,810 mm wide and 1,570 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,660 mm. The interior is modern and technological, with a large 12.8-inch display in the center of the dashboard, while the rear cargo capacity is 326 liters. With these features, the Nammi 01 could represent a valid alternative to models such as the Citroën e-C3 and the new Fiat Grande Panda, competing in the electric city car segment. Dongfeng, which is already present in Switzerland and Norway with the Voyah brand, can count on a consolidated sales network, and the goal is clearly to expand into other European markets, including Italy. Finally, according to the latest rumors, the car should arrive in Italy between the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025. In fact, a few weeks ago, the first photos of the Box were published on Dongfeng Italia's social media, with the description declaring: "Dongfeng Box is coming", obviously referring to Italy. Furthermore, with the ongoing discussions between Dongfeng and the Italian government, it cannot be ruled out that the Chinese brand could choose Italy as the location of its European factory. If this were to happen, not only would we soon see the Dongfeng Box on our roads, but we could also see it produced directly in our country.
