The complaint was lodged by actress Mamuni Sarangi at the Bhubaneswar Mahila Police Station, naming Dhal and three others. According to Mamuni, she was physically assaulted and threatened after she demanded her pending dues. She alleged that the attack took place at the Baliapal opera camp, where the troupe was performing. She and her husband Bapi Kumar claimed that a group led by Dhal beat them up and even threatened to set their car on fire.
