The Exploding Pineapple Block looks incredibly impressive and when I tell my beginners that they'll be making it, they tend to look at me in abject horror. However, it is incredibly simple to make, and pretty quick too, and is therefore a very easy block for beginners to progress to once you've made four patch or nine patch blocks.
