Roukiata Ouedraogo : traditions africaines, liberté des femmes et transmission
In this episode, I have the pleasure of welcoming Roukiata Ouedraogo, author, actress, and columnist, for a conversation about her novel, Le Petit Mari (The Little Husband), as well as her life story, her activism, and her special connection to Madagascar. Through this dialogue, we revisit the profound themes that run through her writing: the role of women, the weight of tradition, education, the passing down of knowledge, and also the power of silence when it is finally broken. How can one address painful subjects without ever abandoning humor? How can one question traditions without erasing their inherent beauty? And how do women, sometimes working behind the scenes, manage to transform their daily lives with courage, subtlety, and intelligence? Throughout this discussion, Roukiata Ouedraogo reflects on the realities that shaped *Le Petit Mari*, the women who inspired her, the importance of education as a path to freedom, and also on her relationship to the French language, the stage, and the diaspora through her play *Black Tax*. This exchange is also an invitation to reflect on what we pass on, what we leave unsaid, and how words can become a space for healing, courage, and hope. A sensitive and insightful conversation at the crossroads of literature, identity, memory, and activism.
