Brigitte Parson and Corsin Flepp are starting their first winter season as hut wardens here. The start is as bad as it gets: fierce winter storms rage around the SAC hut, and instead of serving guests, they're constantly shoveling snow. Jill Lucas and Daniel Sidler have been wardens of the Jenatsch Hut in Graubünden since 2019. Despite their experience, they're nervous every time they climb back up to the hut after the summer. At the start of the season, there's a risk that the water supply will freeze completely. Dario Andenmatten tore both Achilles tendons while descending from his Britannia Hut. After months of rehabilitation, he now hopes to be able to spend this winter at the Britannia Hut, a starting point for the Haute Route. But first, he needs the doctor's green light.
