Grocery shopping in Finland with real prices — this is a full family run through Salonen Bakery and Lidl in Turku, so you'll see exactly what a Finnish family buys and what everything actually costs. We start across the street from Lidl at Salonen, a local bakery in Turku that sells overstock bread by weight. We walked out with a bag full of rye bread, potato bread, and oat bread for just €3.65. They also had Runeberg tortes on sale — normally €5 each, marked down to two for €5 after the February 5th holiday. Then we head into Lidl, one of Finland's go-to discount supermarkets. Is Lidl actually cheaper than K-market? In this video, you'll see the proof: the same block of cheese that costs around €8 at K-market is noticeably cheaper here. Grocery shopping in Finland looks different from what you might expect in the US — the produce isn't pre-weighed, the milk is color-coded by fat content (red = full fat, dark blue = lower fat, light blue = fat-free), and you can pick up Moomin brand diapers for about 26–27 cents each. We also show you how the bottle recycling system works: 15 cents for small bottles, 40 cents for large, redeemed by machine right inside the store.
