The following skills will be demonstrated: LEARN HOW TO USE THE SOFTWARE TO SEAMLESSLY GENERATE VERTICAL CURVES, SUPER ELEVATION AND SKEWS • Fast and intuitive generation of horizontal and vertical curves • Composite sections and cross frames • Temporary and permanent boundary conditions VIEW A DEMONSTRATION OF HPW TO PERFORM TWO EFFECTIVE METHODS OF MODELING: 1) GRILLING USING BEAM ELEMENTS AND 2) 3D-FINITE ELEMENT MODELING USING PLATE ELEMENTS • Grillage model with beam element for global analysis • Use plate elements to model girders for detailed analysis of buckling • Combination of beam and plate elements for optimal analysis LEARN HOW TO USE THE SOFTWARE TO PERFORM CONSTRUCTION STAGE ANALYSIS AND EXTRACT RESULTS • Set up detailed and accurate construction stages • Extract results at each stage and generate cumulative results • Account for nonlinear effect in construction stages Date: 04-17-2013
