Found at the appropriately named Kit Carson County Carousel & Museum in Burlington, Colorado, this National Historic Landmark was only the 6th carousel made from the Philadelphia Toboggan Company and is over 100 years old! But most excitingly, it is one of the fastest carousels you can ride, clocking in at a dizzying 12 MPH! Aside from the speed and age, the carousel is special for so many more reasons! Not only is this a rare "stationary machine" (where animals don't move up and down), and not only are there dozens of refurbished paintings circling the center, but it is also a Menagerie carousel, meaning it’s not just horses! That’s right, you can ride camels, zebras, dogs, giraffes, and even a mythical hippocampus!
