One such story is that of Abhinandan Singh, whose UPSC journey has become a source of inspiration for every UPSC aspirant. Major Abhinandan Singh, who hails from Akhnoor, Jammu, brought glory to Akhnoor by succeeding in the UPSC 2022 exam in his second attempt. Abhinandan Singh was selected for the 19th SSB while still in college. After a year of long and rigorous training, he joined the Signal Corps of the Indian Army in 2014. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering. After completing his army training, his first posting was in Tezpur, Assam, on the Indo-China border. Shortly thereafter, he was transferred to the Amritsar unit. Young army officers undergo a mandatory course upon transfer from one unit to another. During this course, something unexpected happened to him. He injured his ankle while playing basketball during a training event. As the course was nearing completion, he was unable to undergo proper medical checkups and rehabilitation. This injury proved to be a turning point in Major Abhinandan Singh's life. He was advised to rest for two years. After this, Abhinandan decided it was time to change his career. He began preparing for the UPSC Civil Services Examination in 2019. He took his first UPSC exam in 2021. Major Abhinandan Singh failed to clear the UPSC Prelims on his first attempt. However, he did not lose hope. He accepted his failure and began preparing again. He reread his notes, focused on current affairs, and chose philosophy as an optional subject. Abhinandan says that his army training was very helpful during his UPSC preparation. With his enthusiasm and will to win, Abhinandan achieved AIR 749 in the UPSC 2022 exam. "Josh Talks" salutes Abhinandan's enthusiasm and will to win.
