Philip Sparke - Two Part Invention (Adam Frey & David Thornton)
A performance from the International Euphonium & Tuba Festival 2014 held at Emory University, Atlanta during June 2014. The soloists are David Thornton & Adam Frey and Caryl Conger is the pianist. Two Part Invention (Philip Sparke) Two-Part Invention Bob and Nick Childs asked the composer for a short piece for a concert in the autumn of 1989. The work falls into two sections (requested by the soloists). The first is a slow and dreamy arietta, in which both soloists present their own, contrasting tunes which later combine. A short flourish leads to an Allegro Vivo where the players get a chance to show of their virtuoso techniques. (Taken from www.philipsparke.com)
