In this video, I discuss long-term emigration not as a matter of moving, documents, work, or adaptation, but as an internal process in which a new entity gradually emerges within a person—an immigrant. At first, this immigrant helps you survive. You need it to get through the first few years, the loss of status, the new language, the loneliness, the job, the documents, the stress, and the need to start almost from scratch. But after 10, 15, or 20 years, a person may discover something terrifying: this internal immigrant has become stronger. They now have a job, a bed, food, routes, habits, their own fears, their own justifications, and their own ironclad arguments. And then the main question arises: who is now living your life—you or the immigrant you once let in? In the video, I discuss how emigration can change a person, why an "experienced immigrant" isn't always someone who has become freer, how an internal survival mechanism transforms into a master, and why a person becomes an object while an immigrant becomes a subject. I'll talk separately about health, illness, and tests: sometimes the body becomes the last resort, stopping this construct and returning a person to themselves. As long as the body is functioning, the immigrant uses this resource. But when the body breaks down, a person suddenly gains the right to drop out of the system and feel real again. This video isn't about whether to go back or stay. The question is deeper: who makes the decisions within you? You can't kill an immigrant. He was once a lifeguard. But he can be moved from the driver's seat to the window—and the person can once again live their own life.
