Memahami Protestantisme ❗❗ Secara Kritis dan Teologis

Can Protestantism Survive Without Catholicism? This question goes beyond mere historical dimensions; it touches on the existential and theological roots of Protestantism's identity itself. Since its inception in the 16th century, Protestantism has never emerged ex nihilo (out of nothing), but rather as a response to the context and content of the teachings of the Catholic Church. From a narrative perspective, Protestantism's identity is inherently shaped in opposition to Catholicism. Many distinctive Protestant characteristics—such as the rejection of the authority of the Pope, the critique of the Mass as a re-sacrifice of Christ, and the emphasis on Scripture as the sole source of divine truth (sola scriptura)—are all rooted in distinctions drawn from Catholic teachings and structures. Without the Catholic Church as a reference or "background," the orientation and even theological justification of some pillars of Protestantism can become obscured. #martinluther #protestantism #catholic #catholicchurch #churchhistory #theologicalreflection #catholictheology Additional references: 1.
