Patients complain about insufficient or superficial information about side effects from oncology caregivers and limited options for side effect management to improve quality of life during and after therapy. The S3 guideline (Guideline Program Oncology) includes "complementary medicine in the treatment of oncology patients," such as mistletoe therapy, as a "may" recommendation with a Level of Evidence 1a for improving quality of life. Complementary medicine should be understood as a complement to conventional medicine and by no means an alternative.
