You can deliver me from the hands of those who persecute me. 3 Let them not pounce on me, as a lion would, and tear me to pieces and drag me away with no one to rescue me. 4 It would be different, Lord, if I did evil, 5 if I repaid good with evil, or if someone who trusted me was unfair. 6 Then it would be right for my enemies to destroy me, to throw me to the ground, and trample my life in the dust. 7 But not so, Lord! Set your wrath against the wrath of my enemies. Come, Lord, and execute justice for me! 8 Let all people come before you; be exalted above them and judge. 9 Let justice prevail against me! Grant me justice before all, for I am innocent. 10 Please put an end to all this wickedness, Lord. Bless all who truly love you. You, the righteous God, are the only One who sees all the depths of every human heart. You judge the motives and thoughts. 11 God is my shield and my defense. He saves the righteous and upright. 12 God is a judge who always rules fairly. Day after day, his wrath is provoked by the wicked. Psalms 9 2 Lord, I praise you with all my heart. I tell everyone about the wonderful things you do. 3 I overflow with joy and gladness because of you. I will sing of you, You are the God Most High! 4 In your presence all my enemies will fall and perish. 5 You have vindicated me and established me. From your throne you have made justice prevail. 6 You have rebuked the nations and destroyed the wicked, so that their names are blotted out forever. 7 Your enemies are condemned forever! The Lord will destroy their cities. Even their memory will fade away. 8 But the Lord will live forever, 9 and on his judgment seat, he will judge the nations of the earth with righteousness. 10 All who are oppressed may come to him. He is a refuge for those in need. 11 All who know your mercy and grace, Lord, will turn to you for help. You will not forsake those who put their trust in you. 12 Praise the Lord who lives in Jerusalem. Let the whole world hear of his unforgettable deeds. 13 He who will avenge all murder will listen to those who call on him for justice. When people in trouble call on his help, he will not ignore their prayers. 14 Lord, have mercy on me. Do you see how I suffer because of those who hate me? Deliver me from the jaws of death, 15 so that I may openly sing your praises and joyfully proclaim in Jerusalem your salvation. 16 My enemies have fallen into the pit they dug for others, they have fallen into their own traps! 17 The Lord is famous for punishing the wicked with their own weapons! Consider this! 18 The wicked will go down to the realm of the dead. So will the nations who forget the Lord. 19 The poor will no longer be forgotten, their hope will no longer be dashed. 20 Come, Lord, judge and punish the nations; do not let them triumph over you! 21 Let them tremble with fear, put them in their place, so that they may know that they are human! Psalms 28 I cry out to You, Lord, my rock. Do not turn away from me without speaking. For if You remain silent with me, I will die. 2 Hear the voice of my supplications. I lift up my hands to You in Your sanctuary. 3 Do not destroy me with the wicked or with evildoers. They speak kindly to others, but in their hearts they hate them. 4 Give them their due, and repay them according to their deeds. 5 The Lord will destroy them and not restore them, because they do not see His ways and do not understand His works. 6 I praise the Lord, because He has heard the voice of my supplications. 7 The Lord gives me strength; He is the shield of my refuge. My heart has trusted in Him, and He has helped me. My heart rejoices, and I praise him with my song. 8 The Lord strengthens his people. He is a stronghold for him whom he has anointed. 9 Free your people, and bless those who are yours. Tend to them as a shepherd tends his sheep and protect them forever.
