Fox 5: Soccer Leagues Asking City to Keep The Lights On

Fox 5 with special guest, CEO/Co-Founder of The Footy League and NYC Footy, Tarek Pertew. NYC Footy is a coed soccer league in NYC, with leagues in Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan and tournaments on Governors Island and upstate New York, in the Catskills. Mayor Mamdani played for the league for 15 seasons before his inauguration. Players are encouraging an effort to have NYC park lights stay on past the newly imposed 10pm curfew. NYC Footy is one of the leagues pushing for light to stay on, led by Pertew who details the implications the newly implemented curfew has had on NYC's soccer community. NYC Footy was founded in 2010 and now has 60,000+ members, holding the title of the country's largest adult soccer league.
