Vintage 1957 Swiss Survey Level Restoration | WILD Heerbrugg N2

In this video, I restore a 1957 WILD Heerbrugg N2 Swiss Survey Level This is a vintage surveying instrument that was well known for its outstanding accuracy and reliability in its time. Unfortunately, the condition of this unit was very poor. The metal case had several dents, the leather carrying strap was completely worn out, many parts of the level were covered in rust, and the original paint had badly deteriorated. I started the restoration by carefully disassembling the entire survey level. After taking it apart, I stripped the old paint from the metal components, prepared the surfaces, and repainted them with durable 2K paint. The parts that originally had a nickel finish were professionally re-nickel plated to restore their original appearance. Once every component had been restored, I carefully reassembled the survey level. Next, I restored the metal carrying case. I removed the old paint, repaired the dents, and finished it with a hammered paint coating. Since the original leather strap was beyond repair, I made a new strap using leather in the same color and fitted it to the case. Finally, I placed the fully restored survey level back into its restored case, completing the project.
