The Ultimate Cradle Mountain Day Guide! | Marions Lookout & Queenstown

Conquering the epic alpine trails of Cradle Mountain! Welcome to Day 5 of our 7-day campervan road trip across Tasmania. Today, we are leaving our campground early at 6:00 AM to explore the freezing, jagged peaks and brutal terrain of Tasmania's high country. We start by driving into the freezing morning mist to see Cradle Mountain reflecting over the glassy waters of Dove Lake, checking out the brave kayakers paddling through the glacial waters. Next, we tackle the steep, heart-pumping climb up to Marions Lookout. Gripping the guide chains to scramble up the vertical ridge line was intense, but looking down at Lake Lilla, Crater Lake, and Dove Lake all at once from the summit was mind-blowing! After descending the mountain, we hit the road and head into the wild West Coast. We stop for a much-needed hot pizza and coffee lunch at the cozy Tullah Cafe before navigating the winding roads into the historic mining town of Queenstown. We finish the night at the Queenstown Caravan Park, lighting up a roaring campfire to beat the freezing alpine night.
