A Trip of Firsts: Chobe, Mosi-oa-Tunya (Victoria Falls) | Family Safari Vlog
There are some trips that show you the world. And then there are trips that completely reshape how you see it. This is a journey of ultimate beginnings. My very first time crossing into Zambia. My niece’s absolute first taste of the untamed wild, her first ever safari trip. And my mom… stepping into the stirrups for her first-time horse ride right along the edge of the mighty Zambezi River. We began our story where Botswana’s wild soul was first fiercely protected. Established in 1967 as the country’s very first national park, Chobe stretches across an astonishing 11,700 square kilometers of raw, unyielding beauty—a sweeping theater of floodplains, dense woodlands, and a riverfront that commands absolute respect. The Chobe Riverfront is legendary for its elephants; a place where, during the dry season, the earth seems to shift as whole herds gather by the water to drink, bathe, cross, and remind you that the wild was never meant to be rushed. You do not dictate the pace here. You simply watch, wait and wonder. Then came Mosi-oa-Tunya—“The Smoke That Thunders.” the local name for Victoria Falls. Resting on the Zambezi River between Zambia and Zimbabwe, Victoria Falls is a colossal force of nature, stretching roughly 1.7 kilometers wide and plunging over 100 meters down into the jagged abyss of the Batoka Gorge. It is one of those rare, sacred places on Earth that you actually hear and feel vibrating in the earth beneath your feet long before you ever see it. But once you are standing there, the geography and the hard facts fade away. What truly stays with you is the sensory overload: -The sharp, cold mist biting at your skin. -The deep, primeval roar echoing inside your chest. -The river moving with an absolute, terrifying sense of its own power. The thrilling, electric edge of safari nerves. -The unfiltered, golden sound of family laughter. -The sudden, beautiful way everyone goes completely silent without being told to. From the ancient, wild sanctuary of Chobe to the wonderous thunder of Victoria Falls, this vlog carries the magic of first-time wonder, epic wildlife encounters and the joy of watching the people you love meet the world in a completely new way.
