It has been one of the city's most important trade, port, and transportation hubs since the Byzantine and Ottoman eras. It is famous for its lively square and traditional fish-and-bread boats. 🔶 Sirkeci: A neighborhood right next to Eminönü, closely identified with the historic Sirkeci Train Station. It gained worldwide fame as the final stop of the famous Orient Express and remains a central transportation hub today. 🔶 New Mosque: An Ottoman imperial mosque located in Eminönü Square. Its construction began in 1597 by order of Safiye Sultan and was completed in 1665 by Turhan Hatice Sultan. It is one of the most iconic structures of Istanbul's skyline. 🔶 Egytian (Spice) Bazaar: Built in 1660 as a part of the New Mosque complex. It was named the "Egyptian Bazaar" because it was funded by revenues from Cairo. Today, it is world-famous for its colorful spices, herbal remedies, nuts, and Turkish delights. 🔶 Grand Bazaar: Founded by Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror in 1461, it is one of the oldest and largest covered markets in the world. Housing thousands of shops, it is the ultimate historical hub for gold, jewelry, traditional carpets, and antiques. 🔶 Rıza Paşa Yokuşu (Hill) One of Istanbul's steepest and busiest commercial slopes, connecting the Eminönü/Mahmutpaşa area to the Grand Bazaar.
