A Vain and Empty Life – A Sermon on 1 Peter 1:14
https://www.mljtrust.org/sermons-onli... People are unaware of both nature and origin. Why does anyone need the Christian gospel? From what do they need to be delivered? In this sermon on 1 Peter 1:14 titled “A Vain and Empty Life,” Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones addresses the essential content and hope of this gospel. Human ignorance is the fatal cause of all their trouble. They are ignorant both of who God is and who they are. Dr. Lloyd-Jones speaks of the general characteristics of this life, and how the human life is governed by lust. “The godless life is a life of lust”; it is one that is controlled by passions and desires. Many people are selfish and self-centered, living so that nothing interferes with their pleasure. This is a profitless life. “Are we adding to the value of life as a whole?” The Christless life is a hopeless life, both in this life and in the next. Other religions are pessimistic and without hope; there is nothing to look forward to. Receive a new orientation and way of living. Listen to this great plea to turn to the only One who can offer eternal hope and help—the Lord God Himself.
