PATTERN GAUGE: 15 sts x 20 rows As the pattern is written in rows and not cm or inches it is important to check your own row gauge (of your yarn & knitting tension) to get the correct sizing. If you are off row-gauge just apply your correction factor. E.g. if your row gauge is 24 rows per 10cm/4 inches; then multiply your row count by 1.2 = 24/20. If the pattern calls for 27 rows you then need 27 x 1.2 = 32 rows. MY MODIFICATION to avoid seeming of the heel: I use the Turkish double cast-on method. What a difference it makes - see ep.19 - timestamp 22:55:    • Felted Pearl Hat, New Year's Knitting Reso...   MY MODIFICATIONS to get a higher heel cap (EU Size 37) and larger "ancke hole": 1) CO 42 "rounds" on the two needles as a Turkish cast on corresponding to 84 stitches (sts). (the 84 sts are more than the pattern calls for to get the higher heel cap) 2) Knit 30 rounds before decreasing the heel cap. (more rounds than the pattern calls for to get a larger hole for the foot "to enter" the slipper). 3) Place markers: Knit 21 sts (K21), place marker (PM), K42, PM, K21. End of Round (EOR). (important to center the decreases around the ankle). 4) *Make heel cap decreases before and after each marker: K2tog, slip marker (SM), SSK Knit one round* Repeat from * to * 3 times. Now in total 36 rounds have been knitted before separation into two feet. 5) After the last round of the heel cap decreases, place one half on the stitches on another circular needle (36 sts). The first stitch on the new needle is the stitch above the last SSK stitch. 6) CO 2x 8 sts. You now have in total 44 sts on each of the circular needles for each foot before the new ankle decreases on top of the foot. 7) Knit 6 rounds, make ankle decreases as in the pattern, Knit 5 rounds, make decreases as in the pattern. After the decreases I have 40 sts on the needles. 8) Knit 20 rounds (in total 17 cm from the ankle cast on) MY TOE MODIFICATION: Distribute your stitches evenly on 4 dpn’s. You start decreasing for the toe on front/center of the ankle/foot (EOR) DECREASES STEP 1: *Round 1. Knit until 3 sts left on your needle, k2tog, k1 Round 2: k1, ssk, knit to end of needle Round 3: like row 1 Round 4: like row 2 Round 5: knit 1 round without decreases* Repeat ** until there are 24 sts (6 sts on each dpn) DECREASES STEP 2: Round 1: k3, k2tog, k1 Round 2: k1, ssk, k2 Round 3: knit 1 round without decreases There are now 16 sts left (4 sts on each needle) DECREASES STEP 3: Round 1: ssk, k2tog There are now 8 sts left (2 sts on each needle)
