E60: Swim Platform Install - Can I Stop the Flex?

The swim platform is the biggest single piece of steel I’ve added to the boat so far, and it’s fighting me every step of the way. In this episode, I’m tackling a massive challenge: how to turn a large, flexible 4mm steel sheet into a rock-solid, perfectly flat deck. With over 50 meters of welding to do, the risk of heat distortion and "the flex" is real. If I get this wrong, the whole stern of the boat is ruined. What’s in this video: The Battle Against Flex: Using 10mm flat bar stiffeners to kill the wobble. Solo Engineering: The "cunning plan" to use angle iron as a guide when you don't have an extra pair of hands. A Costly Lesson: Why a dirty welding visor was ruining my welds (and how I finally fixed it). Milestone Progress: Getting the platform ready to finally mate up with the transom. Building a boat like this alone means learning on the fly and dealing with the "Pembrokeshire Dangler" rain. It’s a lot of sweat, a few tears, and a whole lot of MIG welding. Will it stay flat, or will the heat win? Let's find out. ============================= HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT US: ============================= OUR AMAZON WISHLIST: https://amzn.to/3B2YtES TO DONATE: https://ko-fi.com/savingbluesteel OUR AFFILATE LINKS: https://amzn.to/418qqpE PAYPAL DONATIONS: https://paypal.me/SavingBlueSteel OUR TEE-SHIRT VIA AMAZON: https://amzn.to/3Ve77Y5 OUR MERCH: https://saving-blue-steel.myspreadsho...
