Granadilla, a village in Cáceres expropriated in 1955 by Franco to build a reservoir, remains abandoned and classified as a flood zone. Despite the efforts of the Hijos de Granadilla (Sons of Granadilla) association to reverse the expropriation, the village, currently owned by the Tagus River Basin Authority, remains closed and access is controlled. Although a state program brings young people to rehabilitate the village, the lack of signage and tourist services limits its potential.
