Big Crappie & Bonus Bass on a Favorite Bait

I really wish I had brought my cooler this morning so this could have been a catch and cook video! But it's good to turn some loose, anyway. Had a great morning of crappie fishing today, and some surprisingly good bass fishing in the process. (Bass seem to like smaller baits during cold weather, anyway.) After several days of cold weather (by Florida standards), I had a few hours to fish on Saturday morning. I decided to stay close to home, and fish a local lake for crappies -- with some bonus bass coming along for the ride. As is often the case, the hot bait for the day was the Bobby Garland Baby Shad. This time the Mo' Glo series with a light blue back and chartreuse belly was very effective. Kayak fishing can be very effective for crappies in natural lakes.
