How long does it take to become a solicitor with SQE?
➡️ Our SQE preparation course: https://futuresolicitor.co.uk/?source... How long does it take to become a solicitor with SQE? You don’t even need a degree or indeed any experience to take the SQE. So anyone can take it. However, you need three things to actually become a solicitor, if you have passed the SQE: Two years’ qualifying work experience; and A degree - it doesn’t have to be in law though. Obviously there are some exemptions, but that is the basic position. To take the SQE, there is no requirement that you need a law degree, a GDL, or in fact any degree. There is a requirement that kicks in when you apply to become a solicitor The SQE is split into two parts, SQE1 and SQE2, which are taken separately. You can only take SQE2 once you have passed SQE1, or if you have an exemption In addition to passing the SQE, you will need to demonstrate to the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) that you have completed two years of ‘Qualifying Work Experience’ (QWE). This can be gained before, during, or after your SQE assessments Once you have passed SQE1 (or the LPC), SQE2, and the QWE, you will be eligible to apply for admission to the roll of solicitors. You should allow around a month for the appropriate checks to be done and to receive your admission certificate.
