Accreditation and Political Control of Higher Education | Campus Freedom Live #6
Accreditation may sound technical, but it is powerful: accrediting agencies help determine whether schools meet core standards, whether institutions can access federal funds, and how much room colleges and universities have to govern themselves. The Trump administration is trying to change the rules for who can become an accreditor, how easily colleges can switch accreditors, and what standards accreditors use, opening a path to reward allies, punish critics, and weaken the freedom that lets colleges teach and pursue truth with independence and academic integrity. This webinar will explain why alumni have a stake in this fight and what can be done to keep higher education free from political control. We were joined by: Jonathan Feingold: Professor of Law, Boston University School of Law Amanda Fuchs Miller: President, Seventh Street Strategies Jonathan Glater: Professor of Law; Associate Dean, J.D.
