How Did Salineville, Ohio Get To This Point?

Salineville is a rapidly declining village in Ohio. From 2022 to 2023 alone, it has lost over 20% of its population. Once a thriving area with coal mining and salt production, now a fading out reminder of what the Rust Belt used to be. The poverty level is around 30%, per capita income is just 19k, amenities are very few, and good jobs are hard to find. Many places have been abandoned for decades, but there's also some unique and charming areas as well to check out.
