Shabba D & Shockin B (SAS) with DJ Probe | Old Skool Drum & Bass 1998 | Kool FM 94.5

Artwork by Take Me Back Pirate Radio Archives. Recorded on Sun 18th Oct 1998. The SAS (MC Shockin B and MC Shabba D) originally teamed up several years earlier on Weekend Rush FM 92.3. If you are interested in listening to their earlier sets they are available in our video section or simply click on the Weekend Rush FM playlist which has plenty of gems from the early 90s. SAS Weekend Rush sets:    • Weekend Rush FM | DJ Remarc & DJ Funky Fli...      • DJ Rusher & DJ Funky Flirt | MC Shabba D &...   Bearing all this in mind it was by no coincidence that these two MCs could rock the mic so well which is why their combination was so crisp. They expanded to become the SASAS taking on board MC Skibadee who was growing popularity and in demand by big events. This was the foundations of what is now known as the SASASAS, though we wonder why MC Shockin B somehow slipped out of the mix. We felt he was worthy of being up there, however, that's another question that won't get answered in this description. The year 1998 saw the lose of one go the scene's greatest MCs, Stevie Hyper D (RIP). This left a vacuum for other competing MCs to rush to fore and there was scores of talent knocking on promoters doors with the likes of 2000AD Productions "Desire" which was beginning to book emerging talent and the likes of One Nation and Pure Science recognising the new breed of MCs. Jungle music had now undergone a transformation from Ragga infused breakbeat sounds with infusions of Hip Hop to this dark industrial hard step techie sound. Probe was a well known DJ on Kool FM and was a legendary old skool DJ playing Hardcore before his switch to Jungle music. Probe was a resident DJ at the infamous, Innersense @Lazerdrome, Rye Lane London SE15. He began his production career later, firstly, teaming up with DJ Phantasy, they produced "Orders", on Easy Records, 1999. Then on his own, in 2003, he released his first record, DJ Probe ‎– "Ping Pong" and "Warped". In 2007, he teamed up with Cabbie (Cab-E) to produce, "Highgrade" which was released on white label and continued to produce up to 2009. He continues to play on Kool London.
