Day One we went through Goler Wash and over Mengel Pass into Butte Valley ( Striped Butte ) A few things of note : Arrive at Goler Wash with enough time to get through to the valley if you are camping. There are plenty of very pretty sites to camp so don't fret if someone is in the geologist cabin or the other cabins near the entrance to Butte Valley!! The best views are near the rocky outcroppings! The route took us about 2 ½ hours and we missed : Barker Ranch Keystone mine Several small mines located through the canyon Be sure to : Air Down - there are plenty of sharp rocks that are more then happy enough to add drama to your day!
