Summer Solstice at Stonehenge with 15,000 people!
Have you ever wondered what it's like to celebrate Summer Solstice at Stonehenge, well wonder no more! Follow me and my gorgeous friend Sophie on our mini pilgrimage adventure. Summer Solstice recognises the longest day and the shortest night of the year. The word solstice comes from the Latin words for 'sun' and to 'stand still'. Stonehenge which is usually only visible from 'behind the fence' opens up twice a year to the public who can gather in and around the monument, and touch the stones. It was built to be aligned perfectly so that on the summer and winter solstices the sun would be highlighted over the heel stone which is just outside the main ring of stones. It was such a magical experience to be here with thousands of other sun worshipers, I hope you enjoy the video! x
