The People in the Trees by Hanya Yanagihara

If you've ever asked the question, Should I read this? This is for you: My no-spoiler review of Hanya Yanagihara's debut novel, The People in the Trees. Published by Doubleday in 2013 Damn. Wow. I loved every moment of it. Like a travel journal. Beautifully and painfully written. Gut-wrenching and then a volley of sleight of hands. "Yanagihara received rave reviews for her novel. The New York Times called her 'a writer to marvel at', while The Guardian called the book an 'ambitious debut'. A review in The Independent was also overwhelmingly positive, calling the novel 'an absorbing, intelligent and uncompromising novel, which beguiles and unnerves'." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Peo... 00:00 Disturbing just doesn't disturb me anymore 00:23 Reading encouragement porn 02:16 Overview (A Little Life / Hanya Yanagihara / Daniel Gajdusek) 04:10 Synopsis 05:34 The world is not actually what it seems 07:09 The Container of Terror 08:14 Thanks & all that Little Women by Louisa May Alcott:    • Playlist   The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde:    • Playlist   Daniel Gajdusek: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_... ✌️ Links 👽 💡 nagatasho.co 👈 to book a call or get a book recommendation 📚 substack.com/@nagatasho 🛹 goodreads.com/nagatasho
