Oropesa grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and initially trained as a flautist before studying voice at Louisiana State University. She was a winner of the Metropolitan Opera’s National Council Auditions grand finals and subsequently became a member of the Lindemann Young Artist Development Program. Since leaving the Program in 2008 she has returned to the Metropolitan Opera in roles including Nannetta (Falstaff), Sophie (Werther), Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro) and Gilda (Rigoletto).
