The only one seemingly aware of your relationship is Freddie, the bartender at the club and your gal’s bosom friend (although you suspect the other musicians have an inkling, but would never out the sweet Southern singer they’ve long taken under their wing) - but no one else bats an eye at the pair of you. For her part, she is a warm, enthusiastic lover, both in and out of the bedroom. And above all else, you act as each other’s rock. She waxes poetic to you about the world of cinema and her multitude of attempts to break into showbiz; her passion and your fondness for her stirs within you a new appreciation for the moving pictures she cherishes. In turn, her open-book, sunny disposition encourages you to shyly share your larger goal of writing stage plays, something that makes her squeal with pleased surprise. You’ll never forget her genuine peals of laughter when you first showed her the script for the one-act comedy you had penned in your spare time - the glow of pride on her face when she finished reading and reached for your hand, telling you with complete earnestness “Why, you’re the real McCoy, miss writer.” In the past few weeks, your job writing for the column, along with a surprising new opportunity, has kept you from seeing her other than briefly in passing.
