Conductor Otmar Suitner (May 16, 1922 – January 8, 2010) was someone whose performances I was "on a daily basis" not only through his recordings but also through his frequent guest appearances with the NHK Symphony Orchestra. I was able to enjoy his honest and straightforward conducting style through television and FM broadcasts. His performances of Mozart, Beethoven, and Brahms, in particular, were a collection of reliable and masterful performances that convinced me that "this is the real deal!" with their orthodox German-Austrian approach.
