CONQUEROR::CONQUISTACON - Millennium Stage (June 3, 2026)

CONQUEROR::CONQUISTACON is the theatre you build when you cannot afford to grieve :: the conqueror is always the protagonist. All narratives are subordinated to the logic of victory :: death is not an ending, but an event of transformation. It is a funeral dressed as a celebration :: it is the silence of the conquered, converted into value: financial, symbolic, strategic. Absence is a special effect :: entire peoples, lands, or languages may vanish—but their disappearance is merely a scenic intervention. The conceptual backbone of theatrical “informance” CONQUEROR::CONQUISTACON—developed from the dramatic text THE CONQUEROR by the Slovenian author Andrej Hieng—is formed by the joining of the ideas of “necropolitics” of Cameroonian political theorist Achille Mbembe, with the “Theatre of Mourning” written by Petra Pogorevc, Slovenian dramaturge, editor, and writer. A theatrical “informance” is an artistic form developed by the Slovenian theatre director Dragan Živadinov and his Zavod Delak company. It is a hybrid between a lecture and a stage performance—a so-called techno-formatted performance that represents a logical evolution in the lineage of happening and performance art, drawing inspiration from Joseph Beuys’ information actions of the 1960s.
