On September 9, 2004, an office worker's wife, Toshiyo (then 38), and their three children were murdered by an unknown assailant at his home in Kutsukake-cho, Toyoake City, and then the house was set on fire. "I no longer laugh so heartily." The Aichi Prefectural Police have deployed a total of 55,000 investigators to date, but have yet to arrest the perpetrator. Toshi Amami, the sister of the late Toshiyo, has distributed countless flyers and called for information. (Amami) "My children called me 'Mommy,' so I named her 'Amami.' I decided to take the 'Toshi' part from Toshiyo's name and use it as 'Amami Toshi' for my younger sister." The incident completely changed Amami's life. (Amami) "I no longer laugh so heartily. If the perpetrator remains undetected and the case is buried, what was the meaning of my sister and the children's lives?" Thoughts of the Deputy Chief of the First Investigation Division, who handled the case On September 6th, Amami headed to Toyoake City Hall. She planned a panel exhibition to ensure the incident doesn't fade from memory.
