Wrecking Crew thanks Kickstarters for its 30 year anniversary

July 7, 1996 – Evergreen Studios, Burbank, California Thirty years ago today, my friends and family helped launch what would become The Wrecking Crew adventure. My father, Tommy Tedesco, had recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer, and we knew we had to move quickly. On that first day, we gathered around a table with Tommy, Hal Blaine, Carol Kaye, and Plas Johnson to capture their stories before it was too late. I called in favors from friends I worked with, and somehow we ended up with two 16mm film cameras on dollies. It was our very first day of shooting, and honestly, it turned out even better than I had hoped. What none of us could have imagined was that it would take another 19 years before The Wrecking Crew finally found distribution in 2015. For years, I wanted to make a short film about the making of The Wrecking Crew and the incredible journey it took to get the film made. Then I realized... that story could become another documentary all by itself! Recently, I came across a video we created years ago to thank everyone who donated through Kickstarter and our other fundraising efforts. It doesn't include every donor's name, but it reminded me just how many people believed in this film and helped make it possible. This past year, The Wrecking Crew was honored with induction into the National Film Registry at the Library of Congress—something I never could have imagined back on that day in 1996. To everyone who donated, shared the film, told a friend, came to a screening, or simply believed in what we were trying to do... thank you. You are part of this journey. If you have a few minutes, please watch the video and see if your name—or the name of someone you know—appears in the credits. And if you don't see it, please forgive me. This wasn't the final list of everyone who helped. It's simply a snapshot of the incredible community that carried us across the finish line. Thank you for being part of the adventure.
