Austin Maestro - All talk and no action?

We take a look at the Maestro. Austin Rover had very high hopes for the car when launched in 1983. It was a conservatively styled vehicle but was promoted as a computer age car and featured a talking dash on the top of the range models. The Miracle Maestro was how the Maestro was advertised but unfortunately it never lived up to the hype even though it did have one or two features that were cutting edge at the time. The Maestro can be described as moderately successful and was let down by poor build quality, average reliability and a lacklustre image. However, the car does have some good points and the top of the range MG Maestro Turbo offered genuine thrills! If the Maestro had been better made and more reliable how would history have viewed it then? After production ended in the UK the Maestro rose from the dead.
