I have loved and adored The Muppet Christmas Carol since I was 6 years old and saw it in the movie theatre (hi, elder millennial here), and I have been looking forward to making a video about this movie since I started a youtube channel. Here's the thing, not only do I think that The Muppet Christmas Carol is the best version of a Christmas Carol (second is Mister Magoo's Christmas Carol, btw). The costumes in The Muppet Christmas Carol are also historically accurate. I'm not kidding. It's honestly kind of ridiculous how much research was done for the costumes in this movie. They're muppets. It's a kid's movie. Like...why? (Not that I care, because I am living for the costumes in this movie.)The costume designers, Polly Smith and Ann Hollowood (who worked with Jim Henson for years and years, btw), did incredible research on Victorian fashion, specifically what would have been worn when A Christmas Carol would have taken place (1843). So, here it is... everything you could ever want to know about the costumes in The Muppet Christmas Carol, from Gonzo to Kermit, Scrooge (Michael Caine, you're amazing) to Fred (mmm plaid pants.)
