Can an island really weigh too much, and what happens if it does? | Hawai’i earthquake

Hawai'i just had a big earthquake--magnitude 6.0, at a depth of 13 miles. While this isn't the biggest earthquake the Big Island has experienced (not even close), it depth and motion style make it pretty interesting. This video shows what is under the Big Island and why this earthquake was a bit different from the "usual" Big Island earthquake and the biggest quakes it has seen. MS Paint diagrams and sandbox model included.
