Disempowering Women - How Sucker Punch Unwrote Fetch's Trauma
🍊For a long time now I wanted to talk about Fetch and what makes her unique among the female game characters. This video is about Sucker Punch building an extraordinarily detailed and realistic trauma arc for Fetch in First Light and then, in Second Son, act like none of it happened. Because the role of the "fun girlfriend" Fetch is threatened by her being too broken. Women get just enough trauma to be interesting, and then it gets quietly extracted the moment it would complicate their function in someone else's story. Fetch could have been a lot of cool things, but all of that got erased. If you like queer perspectives on gaming and weird character analysis by a down bad villain defender I'm your guy!
