Ridiculously Late Meal Times Dinner often doesn’t start until 8 PM, with peak seating at 9–9:30 PM. Lunch can be as late as 2–3 PM (in Canada, we eat at 12 PM and dinner at 5–6 PM!). 2. Mate Obsession Argentines sip mate (a bitter green-tea) all day from a shared gourd (mate) and metal straw (bombilla). You’ll see “mate kits” with thermos, leaves, gourd & straw; it’s a social equalizer. 3. Effortless Friendships Strangers welcome you like family, invite you over for asados, picnics and fútbol in days—no cliques here! 4. Spontaneous Invitations Last-minute asado or river picnic? You’ll get a WhatsApp ping minutes before and jump right in. We always keep wine on hand so we’re never empty-handed. 5. Clapping at the Gate In the countryside, neighbours clap to announce themselves (no doorbell required). Clap, step back, and wait to be invited in! 6. Siesta Time Many shops close from 1–4 PM for a nap—banks often only open 9 AM–1 PM. Plan your errands in the morning! 7. Mandatory Bidet Every bathroom has a bidet. Adjustable hot/cold spray for a proper cleanse—once you try it, you’ll never go back! 8. Unplug Everything During Storms At the first crack of thunder, people rush to unplug modems and chargers—lightning can fry electronics here! 9. Punctuality Is Flexible Time is fluid: a “7 PM” start might mean 7:15–7:30 PM. Learn to go with the flow and leave your watch behind. 10. WhatsApp Audio Notes Instead of texting, most locals send voice messages—it’s faster, more personal, and totally normal. 👍 Did we miss any? Late lunches & dinner = siesta time! ☕️ Mate Obsession: Argentina’s “social green tea” shared via gourd & bombilla ever ywhere. ❤️ Instant friends: Strangers become family over an asado. 🔊 Last-minute invites: “You’re free? Come now!” 👏 Gate-claps: No doorbell? Just clap—locals know. 😴 Fireside naps: Towns shut at 1–4 PM. 🚿 Bidet love: Every bathroom has one—yes, truly! ⛈️ Unplug or fry: Electrify storms will zap your gadgets. ⌚️ Time’s fluid: Punctuality? Optional. 🎧 WhatsApp audio: Text? Nah—you’ll send voice notes all day. Ready to dive in?
