In 1947, Nehru raised the Indian flag at the Red Fort in Delhi. It was the moment the most precious treasure of the "empire on which the sun never sets" fell away. However, one uncomfortable question remains. The colonies were clearly liberated, so why did that liberation fail to bring true freedom to the people? The flag changed, but why did subordination remain? In this video, we examine the truth of 20th-century decolonization from a perspective "from below." The direct ruling Viceroys have disappeared, but the structures of subordination have survived by changing their form. Classical forms of imperialism have evolved into the superpower imperialism of the post-war Cold War era, and following the collapse of the Eastern Bloc in the early 1990s, a new form of today's imperialist world system continues to operate. The limits that the colonized people faced over 70 years ago are still being faced today. The issues of national liberation and social liberation (class liberation) are a single process, and today, the democratic (bourgeois democracy) and socialist (workers' democracy) tasks are also not sequential processes, but 'two tasks within a single process of struggle.'
