Lisa Kestel is out and about in Eindhoven, the design capital of Holland. The city in the province of North Brabant is bursting with creativity, unique hotspots and innovation and is affectionately called the capital of light. With a little over 200,000 inhabitants, Eindhoven is the fifth largest city and central railway hub in the Netherlands. The city owes its status as a technology center in the south of the country to the electronics company Philips. Philips was founded in Eindhoven in 1891 by Gerard Philips. For the time being, the Dutch company was known for the production of light bulbs and is considered a pioneer in the lighting evolution. Numerous leading technological developments followed. Today Philips focuses on lighting as well as medical care and lifestyle products. It is not for nothing that Eindhoven is known as the city of extraordinary events that combine design and technology. The Dutch Design Week (DDW) takes place here every year in October. The nine-day design event is the largest in Northern Europe and presents the works and concepts of over 2,600 designers at 120 locations. This year the DDW will take place from October 16 to 24 and is definitely worth a visit! The city with its special industrial charm not only convinces with creative minds, here you can also enjoy typical Dutch architecture and cuisine. The Bar Meile on the Stratumseind ​​is one of the longest bar street in Holland at 225 meters.
